Education: Bachelors Degree
Experience: 4 - 9 years

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER II

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

Work closely with eyewear designers and manufacturing teams to take concepts from paper sketches to full production.
Responsible for the management of multiple, simultaneous projects including project planning, schedule maintenance, product details, and manufacturing process details.
Investigate and solve material or process related challenges in the development of new products.
Recommend make/buy decisions at assembly or parts levels.
Estimate standard manufacturing cost of products.
Operate CAD system (Solidworks/Autocad) to solve mechanical challenges and communicate solutions.
Keep department ECO systems current.
Communicate progress to department manager and applicable departments.
Evaluate, select and install tools and machinery for production and test operations.
Establish process control for all assembly operations.
Limited travel to factories overseas.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

B.S. in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
Strong knowledge and understanding of mechanics. Basic pneumatic/electrical knowledge.
Experience and knowledge of machining or machine shop practices. Must be able to perform basic milling and lathe operations.
Knowledge of CAD software (Solidworks/Autocad), minimum 2 years experience.
Experience using MS Excel and MS Project.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, TPS, JIT, Set-Up Reduction.
Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with related departments.
Excellent ability to multi-task and to manage many details simultaneously.

PLUS FACTORS:

Previous eyewear or product development; manufacturing experience.
General knowledge of prescription eyewear/lab operations/equipment.
Bilingual: English and either Chinese, Japanese, Italian or Spanish.
