Education: Bachelors Degree
Experience: 4 - 9 years

Product Development Engineer (ESS)

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

Lead eyewear development projects.
Evaluate, select and install tools and machinery for production and test operations.
Establish process control for all assembly operations.
Investigate and solve material or process related problems.
Supervise temporary team to resolve problems.
Apply plant layout theory to streamline operations.
Recommend make/buy decisions at assembly or parts levels.
Monitor labor efficiency.
Operate CAD system to solve mechanical problems.
Estimate standard manufacturing cost of products.
Institute continuous improvement programs and cost reduction programs.
Apply analytical thinking to plant capacity in terms of space, manpower, cap and equipment.
Communicate progress to department manager and applicable departments.
Keep department ECO systems current.
Project management.
Travel to factories overseas.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

B.S. in Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
Specific knowledge of injection molded plastic part design/materials, plastic tool design and construction, prototyping techniques, DFM, FMEA, development of molding processes, mold trial management and production launch operations.
Knowledge and understanding of mechanics, pneumatics, and electrical.
Knowledge of CAD/CAM CNC - minimum 2 years experience (Solid Works preferred).
Experience and knowledge of machining.
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, JIT, Set-Up Reduction.
Good communications kills and ability to interface with related departments.
Ability to work on broad range of assignments with minimum supervision.
